The COC Volunteer Speakers Bureau

Members of the COC Volunteer Speakers Bureau act as ambassadors for the COC and the art form by writing and giving talks on opera at various public speaking engagements throughout the season.

COC Volunteer Speakers Bureau members are responsible for:

  • Preparing and presenting 20-minute talks prior to special rehearsals and regular performances, providing audiences with further context of the music, composer, historical background and compelling facts about the operas (for a minimum of one opera per season)
  • Preparing and presenting specialized opera chats for other COC events and external organizations/groups as requested
  • Attending three meetings per season

Benefits to joining the COC Volunteer Speakers Bureau:

  • Invitations to special rehearsals and internal COC events
  • Meeting and collaborating with other opera-enthusiasts
  • Playing an active role in engaging audiences in the artform and the COC
