Happy Sunday

I'm a happy man today. Happy with a gorgeous sunny Sunday. Happy to relax at home listening to Ivan Moravec' unbearably beautiful recording of Chopin's Nocturnes. Happy with yesterday night's opening of Magic Flute, happy with our stunning production (to hear from our public that it is the most beautiful production of the piece they've ever seen makes me very happy indeed), happy with our great COC Orchestra and Chorus, happy with our wonderful cast of truly great Mozart singers and happy with Johannes who is such a wonderful Mozart conductor.

Next week, we will get Nixon in China ready for its opening on Saturday, but before I'll attend the opening of Barrymore with Christopher Plummer at the Elgin tonight. How couldn't I be a happy man?

Is there a more magical Flute to be found? A triumph!

Bravi a tutti for The Magic Flute. It was pure magic all around - from the orchestra pit, the singers, the sets and costumes, the entire concept. I've been telling everyone, if there is one thing you must see, it's this production. A great way to chase away the winter blahs!

Enjoy this well-deserved - and generously shared - happiness! A thoroughly well-matched and musically delightful production that brought this long-time subscriber great happiness and the satisfying, proud feeling that our Canadian artists, wonderfully talented leaders (AN & JD) and collaborators from around the world have accomplished a great production in our open city!

I loved the production, too. It was delightfully fanciful, and without any doubt the finest "Magic Flute" I have ever seen. I felt honoured to be able to present the pre-performance chat on opening night.
