The End of Our Winter Season

Our winter season ended on Sunday with the last performance of Otello. And the hockey game, of course. As a service to the loyal patrons who had actually come to the opera rather than staying at home to watch the game we projected the results on our SURTITLES screen. Another COC premiere!

Family Day

In the middle of our busy winter season, which doesn't really grant anybody at the COC involved with our performances free weekends etc., today's holiday was a most welcome occasion to actually spend an entire day with my family—and before I go back to work tomorrow also a welcome opportunity to sum up last week's events.

Opening Our Winter Season

Disciplined bloggers like my pre-predecessor Brian Dickie have my full admiration. Even though I try very hard to write a few posts every week sometimes I just fail. Like this past week. Luckily, I can profit from a calm Sunday morning to sum up everything that has happened over the past eight days while listening to Arturo Toscanini's stunning recording of Verdi's Otello, my top recommendation to prepare for the COC's upcoming production.
