I was reading the National Post this morning, and came across Shinan Govani’s article and quite enjoyed it, so I thought I would share it with you.
I am so pleased that people are reacting so favourably to our Fidelio production. The article highlights an event that I recently attended and was honoured at, hosted by Barry Avrich. It was a fantastic evening.
Last Monday it was my great privilege to be introduced to many important figures in the Toronto arts community at a special dinner hosted in my honour at Grano Restaurant in North Toronto. It was a tremendous pleasure to be welcomed to this beautiful city so warmly by Mayor Miller and so many of my colleagues.
The very intense period of rehearsals and performances since our arrival hasn’t left me a lot of time to discover the city. However, my wife and I have been extremely impressed by the vibrancy and diversity of Toronto and everybody we have met has truly done his or her best to help us feel at home. I look forward to working closely with those in Toronto’s arts and culture community to ensure that Toronto becomes even richer and more exciting in its unique diversity.
